  • Square Go is a free app designed to help people book appointments with beauty and wellness professionals
  • Businesses must sign up for Square Appointments to use the app

Square, home to the popular website builder Square Online and POS system, has launched Square Go – an app to connect consumers with businesses for a seamless booking experience.

The primary purpose of Square Go is to help customers discover and easily manage their appointments with beauty and wellness professionals. You can schedule, cancel, and rebook with your favorite businesses on the go, 24/7. However, Square Go is also a great channel for sellers and service providers to boost brand awareness and engage with customers directly.

The CEO of Square, Alyssa Henry, spoke about the release of Square Go:

“We believe Square Go is an important step in helping sellers make more sales by offering seller discovery and exceptional customer experiences.”

The app is currently available in the US and only on iOS devices.

Appointments Made Easy

Square Go helps customers book appointments with beauty and wellness experts. Users can find businesses by downloading the Square Go app for free on their iOS devices, and filter their search by location, service, and availability.

It’s a great solution if you’re looking for a specific service nearby or need to find a last-minute opening. For example, you could search for nail services in your area to see what’s available that same week.

Day-to-day, consumers can book appointments, receive reminders, and manage all of their self-care experiences through the app. Square Go even offers personalized recommendations to users, suggesting businesses based on previous bookings. And rebooking is as easy as one click – simply search your previous appointment history to find your favorite spots, stylists, and services.

Connecting Your Business With Customers

Do you own a beauty or wellness business? While the Square Go app is free to use, you’ll need to have a Square Appointments account to join the platform as a business owner.

There are three monthly subscription plans for Square Appointments – Free, Premium, and Plus – and pricing for the paid plans starts at $29 per month.

Once signed up, Square Go automatically builds a business profile for your brand which you can then personalize to your liking with images, staff directories, services, pricing, and social media links. Reviews from clients are also gathered and verified following appointments which you can then display on your profile.

Considering that Square Go provides an additional channel to improve discoverability and engage with your customers, it’s a worthwhile investment. In fact, 83% of Square Appointments are booked using mobile devices, so the introduction of Square Go is to help businesses meet the customer preference for mobile-first experiences.

The same announcement shared that Square found a 55% decrease in no-shows among Square Go users, saving businesses both time and money and helping other customers make last-minute bookings. And, to help foster positive customer relationships, Square Go also shares rebooking prompts following appointments to encourage repeat visits.

The Future of Booking

As mentioned already, Square Go is only available for people based in the US using iOS devices. Square’s website says it’s not currently available for Android but will be soon.

But have no fear if you don’t run a business in the beauty or wellness space, since Square plans to bring its mobile booking functionality to other industries in the future. Alyssa Henry, CEO of Square, continued to say: “While we’re starting with beauty and personal care, Square Go will expand into additional industries to enable even more sellers and their customers.”

The app also hopes to improve its internal features as time goes on, including the opportunity to join waitlists, provide advanced recommendations, create detailed staff profiles, and pay in-app or tip a professional following an appointment.

So, stay tuned for more Square Go updates! In the meantime, check out our Square Online review to read all about Square’s website builder.
