  • Square Online merchants can now utilize customer data to provide a more personalized experience
  • One-click Klaviyo integration particularly helpful for Square POS merchants

Square Online has announced an integration with marketing automation and customer data platform Klaviyo. Customers will be able to synchronize between the two platforms, utilizing real-time purchase history, profile properties, and catalog information to deliver personalized SMS and email marketing.

Rich Gardner, SVP of Global Strategic Partnerships at Klaviyo, said of the integration that

storing and utilizing your customer data in a way that improves their experience is no longer a nice to have — it’s a need to have.”

Special emphasis was included in the announcement of the benefits to Square POS (Point of Sale) users. The POS software is a way of making transactions, designed both for online ecommerce selling and brick-and-mortar stores through Square’s range of card readers and registers. Klaviyo would allow all that information to be used for marketing purposes, bridging the gap between online and offline customer interactions and helping merchants create a personalized shopping experience across all channels.

This announcement comes off the heels of reports of Klaviyo making an IPO (initial public offering) later this year. The Boston-based startup has allegedly raised more than $775 million dollars to enter the stock market, and this new integration would certainly bolster its position to potential shareholders.

Rich Gardner continued, saying

We’re excited about the possibilities this integration brings to Square sellers and to see more of these partnerships come to life as we continue to think about the relationship between physical and digital, and unifying product information across in-store and online channels

Square Online users will be pleased to see it upgrade its marketing capabilities, especially between both online and offline communications.

For Klaviyo and Square Online users already, you will need to sync up your accounts by going into your Integrations tab on your Klaviyo account and clicking to allow Square Online. After, you will be taken to your Square account to log in. Then, confirm the permissions and make sure you’re connecting Klaviyo to the correct Square site. Tick to allow the Javascript and then complete the setup.

Once connected, all the data collected by Square will sync with Klaviyo. This includes:

  • Known site visitors tracked as Active on Site events (if you left the onsite JavaScript setting checked)
  • Email unsubscribes
  • Profile information associated with order events
  • Your Square catalog

Plus the following order events:

  • Abandoned Checkout
  • Placed Order
  • Ordered Product
  • Refunded Order
  • Canceled Order
  • Fulfilled Order
  • Fulfilled Partial Order

I’ve written articles and featured guest posts for apps like UXPin on web design in the modern age, as well as answered over 100 user comments on the site and delved into the world of choosing a domain name and adding Bitcoin payments to your site in my own pitched articles. All of this is to say that when I want to get you online - I mean it! Outside the office, I have attended the eCommerce Expo and built up a ton of industry knowledge through talks, workshops, and guided learning sessions with noted experts. The internet is made for everyone, so come online and let us help you get there.
