Google Search Console has announced a new recommendations feature to help website owners identify areas to optimize. The helpful addition to the platform is an experimental feature so it’s subject to change over the testing period and as it rolls out officially. Ultimately, it aims to improve your site’s SEO through its actionable tips.

I’ll walk you through the new feature and how to access it in the sections below.

What Can You Expect From the New Feature?

The new recommendations feature from Google Search Console provides a range of insights into how you can improve your site for Google Search. The announcement included a handful of examples, such as:

  • A reminder to index video content
  • Highlighted queries that are performing well

Google will regularly update its recommendations if your site has lots of optimization opportunities. However, if Google can’t identify any issues, it won’t flag anything.

Here’s what Google had to say in the announcement:

“The data was already available to you on Search Console, but now we’re helping to make it more accessible by providing direct recommendations. They can help you prioritize your search optimization efforts, such as using structured data to help Google understand your content, adding sitemaps, and checking out trending queries and pages.”

How To Get Personalized SEO Recommendations

The new feature is still being tested, meaning it’s only available for a limited number of sites. However, Google has promised to roll the feature out fully over the next few months. Once you have access, the feature will be available within the “Overview” tab of Google Search Console.

This is a great improvement to a tool many website owners already use. Not only will beginners to SEO and new website owners benefit from the advice, but Google Search Console can now offer helpful reminders to experienced professionals, too.
