With a Master’s degree in Journalism and a National Council of Journalists Diploma Level 3 under my belt, I have spent years honing my craft through my experiences at several prestigious media outlets.
I now work freelance, writing for incredible publications like Website Builder Guide offering small businesses advice and guidance on subjects ranging from building the perfect brand identity, to overcoming the biggest business challenges facing startups today.

More About Ross
Ross began his career as an intern at the Press Association, one of the UK’s most reputable news outlets, where he gained invaluable experience in journalism from some of the UK’s top journalists. From there, Ross moved on to work at the NME magazine, where he reviewed numerous gigs and covered the latest happenings in the music industry. Working at the NME was one of the highlights of his career, as was talking to Justin Bieber briefly on the phone during his time at the publication!
After gaining experience in the industry, Ross dipped his toe in the world of entrepreneurship and helped a friend set up a business. Although it didn’t succeed as planned, the experience taught Ross valuable lessons about starting a business and inspired him to apply for his next role as staff writer at Startups.co.uk – so he could help others avoid the same pitfalls he did.
Ross spent two years supporting the UK’s small business community while working at Startups, the UK’s leading resource for starting a business. During that time he became a digital marketing expert, covering topics ranging from the top digital marketing trends in 2023, to the best ways to sell on Facebook Marketplace.
It isn’t just marketing Ross helped startups with – he also wrote articles on sustainability and payroll. But most importantly, he reviewed website builders and assessed ecommerce platforms to help business owners determine which provider is the best choice for them. Hence why his knowledge is so valuable for readers here at Website Builder Guide.
With his small business expertise, Ross has continued contributing to other publications as a freelance writer since he left Startups last year. Specializing in ecommerce, branding, digital marketing, and general support of small businesses. He also has a keen interest in interviewing founders and CEOs, and attending network events to meet business owners and offer them support in person.
